Terms of Use - Color Ring Application
Last Updated: 28 October 2026
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Color Ring mobile application and the related services, features, pictures and other content we provide (together, the “Service” or “App”).
In short:
- You can color our pictures for personal, non-commercial use. The pictures, line art, brushes, music and videos in the App belong to us or our licensors.
- You keep the rights in your own creative work. When you publish a work, you allow us to show it in the App and to feature it in our promotion (with your nickname where practical). You can delete it at any time.
- Be kind and keep the community safe: no sexual, violent, hateful or harassing content, no spam, no personal data of others.
- Accounts, publishing, comments and contests are for users aged 13 and over.
- Premium is bought through the App Store and renews automatically until you cancel it in your Apple ID settings.
- Sections 14 and 15 limit our liability; please read them.
By downloading, accessing or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. WHO WE ARE (COMPANY DETAILS)
The Service is operated by:
MARTIN GREY LLP
- A limited liability partnership registered in England and Wales
- Company Number: OC457668
- Registered Office: First Floor Office 3 Hornton Place, London, W8 4LZ, United Kingdom
- (“we”, “us”, “our” or “MARTIN GREY LLP”)
Contact: [email protected]
If you downloaded the App from the Apple App Store, Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies. Section 18 explains Apple’s role.
2. CHANGES TO THESE TERMS
We may update these Terms, for example when we add features or when the law changes. We will publish the new version in the App with a new “Last Updated” date and tell you in the App about material changes before they apply. If you continue to use the Service after that, you accept the updated Terms; if you do not agree, stop using the Service and you may delete your account.
3. WHO CAN USE THE SERVICE
3.1 Anyone can color pictures in the App without an account.
3.2 To create an account, publish works, comment, follow other users or take part in contests, you must be at least 13 years old. If you are under 18 (or under the age of majority where you live), you may do so only with the permission of a parent or legal guardian, who accepts these Terms on your behalf. Where local law sets a higher age for consenting to online data processing (up to 16 in some EEA countries), you need parental consent below that age.
3.3 If you are a parent or guardian and you allow a child to use the Service, you are responsible for the child’s use, including in-app purchases and content the child publishes. We recommend using Apple’s Screen Time and Family Sharing settings to manage purchases.
3.4 You may not use the Service if we have previously suspended or removed your account for breaking these Terms, unless we agree otherwise.
4. YOUR ACCOUNT
4.1 You can sign in with an email address and password, Sign in with Apple or Sign in with Google. Give accurate information and keep your password secure. You are responsible for activity in your account; tell us at [email protected] if you think someone else has used it.
4.2 Your nickname and profile photo are public. Do not use a nickname or photo that impersonates someone, is offensive, or contains personal information such as your full name, address or phone number.
4.3 You can stop using the Service at any time. To delete your account and its data, write to [email protected] (see Section 10 of the Privacy Policy). Deleting your account does not cancel an App Store subscription.
5. LICENCE TO USE THE APP
5.1 We grant you a personal, limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable and non-sublicensable licence to download and use the App on Apple devices that you own or control, for personal, non-commercial purposes, as permitted by these Terms and the Usage Rules of the App Store Terms of Service.
5.2 Except where the law allows it, you may not:
- (a) copy, sell, rent, lend, distribute or commercially exploit the App or any part of it;
- (b) reverse engineer, decompile or try to extract the source code of the App;
- (c) bypass security, paywalls, usage limits or other technical protections;
- (d) use bots, scripts, scrapers or other automated means to access the Service, create accounts, like, comment, follow or collect content or data;
- (e) use the Service in a way that is unlawful, harms others or interferes with its operation.
6. OUR CONTENT
6.1 The App, its design and software, and all pictures, line art, sketches, illustrations, brushes, music, Art School videos, texts, logos and other materials we provide (“Our Content”) are owned by MARTIN GREY LLP or our licensors and are protected by intellectual property laws.
6.2 You may color Our Content and save, share and publish the result for personal, non-commercial purposes using the App’s own features (for example, saving to your photo library or sharing to social networks). You may not sell, license or otherwise use Our Content, or works based on it, commercially (for example, on merchandise, prints for sale, in advertising or in stock image libraries) without our prior written consent.
6.3 You may not use our name, logo or trademarks without our prior written consent.
7. YOUR CONTENT
7.1 What is your content
“Your Content” means the works you create in the App (your coloring of Our Content, works drawn on a blank canvas and sketches made from your own photos), your profile photo, nickname and description, and the comments you post.
7.2 You keep your rights
You keep any rights you have in Your Content. Works made from Our Content also contain our pictures and line art, which remain ours; your rights in such works cover your own creative contribution, and you may use the work only as allowed in Section 6.2.
7.3 Licence you give us
When you publish Your Content in the Service (to the community feed, a contest, a challenge, your public profile or as a comment), you give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, transferable and sublicensable licence to host, store, reproduce, adapt (for example, resize or crop), publish, display and distribute it:
- (a) in the App, so that other users can see, like and comment on it (including feeds, galleries, leaderboards, contest results and featured sections); and
- (b) to promote the App and the Color Ring community, including on our websites, social media accounts, App Store pages, newsletters and advertising.
We will try to credit you by your nickname when we feature your work outside the App, where practical. Our service providers may use Your Content only to provide their services to us.
7.4 How long the licence lasts
The licence in Section 7.3(a) ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies kept for a limited time in backups, or where we must keep it by law or to deal with a complaint. The licence in Section 7.3(b) also ends when you delete the content, but we do not have to remove promotional materials that were already published or printed before you deleted it, and contest-winning works may remain in published contest results. If you would like a featured work to be removed from our social media, write to us and we will make reasonable efforts to remove it.
7.5 Your promises
You promise that you have the rights needed to publish Your Content and to grant the licence above; that Your Content does not infringe anyone’s copyright, trademark, privacy or other rights; and that it follows Section 8. Do not publish photos of other people, especially children, without the permission of that person or of their parent or guardian.
7.6 Repaint and SharePlay
If you invite other users to repaint your work, or color together with someone through SharePlay, the participants can see and color that work. Works you were invited to repaint, or that you made in a SharePlay session, may not be publishable in the community, as shown in the App.
7.7 Feedback
If you send us ideas or suggestions, we may use them freely without any obligation to you.
8. COMMUNITY RULES
Color Ring is a creative, friendly community that people of different ages use. There is no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users. You must not publish, post or send content, or behave in a way, that:
- (a) is sexually explicit or suggestive, contains nudity, or sexualises minors in any way;
- (b) shows graphic violence, self-harm or cruelty, or promotes weapons, illegal drugs, alcohol or tobacco;
- (c) is hateful, discriminatory, harassing, bullying, threatening or defamatory, or targets a person or group;
- (d) contains other people’s personal data (names, addresses, phone numbers, photos) or your own contact details;
- (e) is spam, advertising, links to other services, or attempts to contact children;
- (f) infringes copyright, trademarks or other rights, including uploading or tracing other artists’ works without permission and passing them off as your own;
- (g) impersonates any person, including us or our staff;
- (h) manipulates likes, followers, rankings or contest results, for example with multiple accounts, automation, or exchanges of likes;
- (i) is unlawful or encourages illegal activity.
9. MODERATION, REPORTS AND APPEALS
9.1 Automatic check before publication. Images you publish are checked automatically by an AI moderation service before they appear (see Section 3.7 of the Privacy Policy). Images that do not pass the check are not published. The automatic check can make mistakes in both directions; if you think your work was rejected wrongly, write to us and a person will review it.
9.2 Reports. If you see content or a user that breaks these rules, report it to [email protected] with the nickname and a description or screenshot. We review reports promptly and aim to act on reports of objectionable content within 24 hours.
9.3 Our actions. We may remove or hide content, restrict features (for example, publishing or commenting), exclude entries from contests, and suspend or delete accounts that break these Terms or the law, or that put other users at risk. In serious cases, such as content that endangers a child, we may also report it to the authorities. Where reasonable and allowed by law, we will tell you what action we took and why.
9.4 Appeals. If you disagree with a moderation decision, write to [email protected] within 6 months. A person will review your request and tell you the outcome. If you live in the EU, you may also have other ways to resolve the dispute under the Digital Services Act.
9.5 We are not obliged to monitor all content and are not responsible for content published by users, but we act on reports and on what we become aware of.
10. PREMIUM, SUBSCRIPTIONS AND PURCHASES
10.1 Premium gives you access to additional features, such as the full picture library, all brushes and music, an ad-free experience and participation in prize contests. What each plan includes and its price are shown in the App before you buy. Features may change over time; we will not materially reduce the core features of an active paid plan during its current period.
10.2 Payment is charged to your Apple ID when you confirm the purchase. Purchases are processed by Apple, and Apple’s terms apply.
10.3 Auto-renewal. A subscription renews automatically for the same period at the then-current price unless auto-renewal is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your Apple ID is charged for the renewal within the 24 hours before the period ends. We will tell you in advance, as required by law, if the price of your subscription goes up.
10.4 Free trials and introductory offers. If a free trial or introductory offer is available, its length and price are shown before you start it. It turns into a paid subscription unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends. Any unused part of a free trial ends when you buy a subscription.
10.5 Cancelling. You can manage or cancel a subscription in iOS Settings > your name > Subscriptions. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current period, and you keep Premium until then. Deleting the App or your account does not cancel a subscription.
10.6 Refunds. Refunds are handled by Apple under its policies, at reportaproblem.apple.com. We cannot issue refunds for App Store purchases ourselves. If you live in the United Kingdom or the European Union, you may have a 14-day right of withdrawal for digital purchases, which you exercise through Apple; by starting to use Premium immediately you may lose this right where the law allows, as explained at purchase.
10.7 Restore purchases. Use the “Restore Purchases” option on the subscription screen to restore Premium on another device signed in with the same Apple ID.
10.8 The purchase terms shown on the subscription screen also apply.
11. CONTESTS AND CHALLENGES
11.1 We may run contests, challenges and similar promotions (“Contests”). Each Contest has its description, deadline and rules shown in the App, which apply together with these Terms.
11.2 Unless the Contest rules say otherwise:
- (a) the winners are determined by the number of likes their entries receive in the App by the deadline;
- (b) you may submit up to two works per Contest;
- (c) only original works created in the App that follow Section 8 are eligible;
- (d) prizes, if any, are only those stated in the Contest description; some prize Contests may be open only to Premium subscribers, as stated in the App;
- (e) prizes cannot be exchanged for cash and are not transferable, unless we agree otherwise.
11.3 We check that Contests are fair. We may remove entries and exclude participants (including Premium subscribers) for manipulating likes, using multiple accounts or automation, or breaking these Terms. Our decisions on eligibility and on winners are final, except where the law gives you a right to challenge them.
11.4 We may change, suspend or cancel a Contest if it cannot run fairly or as planned (for example, because of fraud or technical problems), and will explain this in the App.
11.5 To deliver a prize, we may ask the winner for a name, postal address and phone number. Winners under 18 need a parent’s or guardian’s consent to accept a prize. You are responsible for any taxes or customs duties on prizes, where applicable. Contests are void where prohibited.
11.6 Contests are run by MARTIN GREY LLP and are not sponsored, endorsed or administered by Apple.
12. THIRD-PARTY SERVICES AND ADVERTISING
The Service uses third-party services, such as Apple (purchases, sign-in, iCloud, SharePlay), Google (sign-in) and advertising partners (see the Privacy Policy). Your use of them may be subject to their own terms. The free version of the App shows ads; we are not responsible for the content of third-party ads or the websites and apps they lead to, but you can report an inappropriate ad to us.
13. CHANGES AND AVAILABILITY
We may change, add or remove features, pictures and content, and we may stop offering the Service, with reasonable notice where we can. We try to keep the Service available and working, but we cannot promise that it will always be uninterrupted or error-free. Keep iCloud turned on, or save copies of works you care about to your photo library: artworks stored only on your device may be lost if you delete the App or lose the device.
14. DISCLAIMER
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.
15. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
15.1 To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for loss of profits, revenue, data or goodwill.
15.2 Our total liability for all claims relating to the Service or these Terms is limited to the greater of the amount you paid for the Service in the 12 months before the claim arose and 100 US dollars.
15.3 Nothing in these Terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be limited by law. If you are a consumer in the United Kingdom or the European Union, these Terms do not affect your statutory rights, and we are responsible for loss you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breach of these Terms or our failure to use reasonable care and skill.
16. INDEMNITY
If you are using the Service for business purposes, or to the extent permitted by consumer law, you agree to compensate us for claims, damages and reasonable legal costs arising from Your Content or your breach of these Terms.
17. SUSPENSION AND TERMINATION
You can stop using the Service and ask us to delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you seriously or repeatedly break these Terms, if the law requires it, or if we stop offering the Service. If we end your access to a paid feature without a good reason related to your conduct, you may ask Apple for a refund of the unused period. Sections 6, 7.4, 7.7, 14, 15, 16, 19 and 20 continue to apply after these Terms end.
18. APPLE
- (a) These Terms are between you and MARTIN GREY LLP only, not with Apple. Apple is not responsible for the App or its content.
- (b) Apple has no obligation to provide any maintenance or support for the App.
- (c) If the App fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price of the App (if any) to you. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation for the App.
- (d) We, not Apple, are responsible for addressing any claims relating to the App or your use of it, including product liability claims, claims that the App fails to meet a legal or regulatory requirement, and claims under consumer protection, privacy or similar laws.
- (e) If a third party claims that the App or your use of it infringes their intellectual property rights, we, not Apple, are responsible for the investigation, defence, settlement and discharge of that claim.
- (f) You confirm that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated by the U.S. Government as a “terrorist supporting” country, and that you are not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- (g) You must comply with any third-party terms that apply when you use the App, such as your mobile network’s terms.
- (h) Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.
19. COPYRIGHT COMPLAINTS
If you believe that content in the Service infringes your copyright or other rights, write to [email protected] with: your contact details; a description of the work and of the content you believe infringes it, with the nickname of the user and a screenshot; a statement that you believe in good faith that the use is not authorised; and a statement that the information is accurate and that you are the rights holder or authorised to act for them. We will review the notice, remove infringing content and, where appropriate, close the accounts of repeat infringers.
20. GOVERNING LAW AND DISPUTES
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. If you have a problem, please contact us first, and we will try to resolve it informally. The courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction, but if you are a consumer living elsewhere in the United Kingdom, in the European Union or in another country, you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of your country and may bring proceedings in your local courts.
21. GENERAL
If any part of these Terms is found invalid, the rest remains in effect. These Terms, the Privacy Policy, the purchase terms and any Contest rules shown in the App are the whole agreement between you and us about the Service. If we do not enforce a provision right away, we do not waive it. We may transfer our rights and obligations under these Terms to another company as part of a reorganisation or sale of our business, provided this does not reduce your rights.
